Sobre Love Broke Through A Husband, Father, and Minister Tells His Own Story

From Library JournalThis autobiographical story of a married Methodist minister who leaves wife, infant daughter, and career for a homosexual lifestyle, contracts AIDS, goes on an alcohol binge, drives drunk, blacks out, severely injures a young woman, gets arrested, and puts his life back together is touching whether or not one shares his views of homosexuality or of Christianity. The reader is led through some of the horrors of arrest in New York City as well as the experiences of men with AIDS, so that the reading becomes a social consciousness-raising experience. Ultimately, Stribling wholeheartedly reembraces his Christian tradition, works for non-discrimination for those with AIDS, and ministers to the needs of people with AIDS while maintaining nonsexual friendships with some of his previous male sexual partners and developing friendships with other males and with his daughter. Highly recommended for public and seminary libraries.- Carolyn Craft, Longwood Coll., Farmville, Va.Copyright 1990 Reed Business Information, Inc.
